My favourite media is clay but I also enjoy watercolour and oil painting. My favourite subject is the human body and its infinite diversity. I find it relaxing to turn on the radio and do my thing, forgetting about life’s problems.

With each peace I set out challenges to overcome, the first is to create movement in stone, in many cases to carve the intangibles, wind, clouds and northern lights and it's spirit.

Fran’s career as a sculptor has encompassed a wide variety of experience, including working in stone, clay, snow, concrete, fibreglass or papier mache. She has achieved recognition as an art educator, highest honours in competition, project leadership,
demonstration, competition judging and numerous solo and group exhibitions.

Geerts continues to work in her first passion, acrylic painting, but now devotes equal time to discovering the possibilities in sculpture. She works out of her studios at her home in Calgary, AB, Canada.

Born in 1986, I've been Sculpting since 1997 at 11 years old. It's been an unstoppable passion for me ever since.

Art is a process, as is life. You acquire new bits of information and integrate them with the old, as well as surrender to the present with a bizarre sense of, 'Okay, let's go'. The steel is raw, unfinished strong industrial material. The drawings are curious organic investigations into human form and essence. The clay yields to gentle guidance; upon firing, it manifests enduring strength.

His works is primarily influenced by nature, his subject matter includes the animals of North America and figurative sculpture with emphasis on simplicity of shape.

In the sculptures and paintings that I create, the use of different types of movement can deliver abstractly. Ultimately I would like my works to achieve an aesthetic resonance that is a kin to music.

My goal is to create figurative sculptures that portray people in all their diversity.

My strength is creating sculptural portraits in a representative, high-realistic style, and I have created well over a hundred portraits. I strive to capture the essence of my subjects and I have the God given ability to capture that special spark which makes our characteristics unique and at the same time makes us what we really are: human beings.

Every culture, country and person have stories to tell. Passed on from generation to generation these stories paint a picture of who you are and where you come from. Many of these Fables and Folk tales are universal and share a common thread or theme while others are as unique as the storyteller telling them; perhaps a figment of their imagination.
